Hundreds of âblingâ children's dummies which are studded with small imitation gems have been seized by trading standards officers as they could cause choking in young children. Surrey County Council is warning parents to avoid the pacifiers as well as ... 'Bling' baby dummies 'could kill'
In the UK, mannequins are models of bodies or parts of bodies used to display clothing and accessories to potential buyers. Dummies are actually adjustable torsos used by dressmakers and tailors as an aid to making clothes. However, in some countries the word dummy is used interchangeably with mannequin. Mannequins were once the name for people who were dressed in the clothing on offer and modelled it to customers within the shop, over the years the practice of modelling has become restricted to the catwalk or to photographs, but using the modern mannequin gives the buyers far more idea of what a garment will look like on the body than a hanger ever could do.
Interestingly these days there is often talk about âhanger appeal' - some clothes look good on a hanger, but others simply have no hanger appeal whatsoever and may end up on the sale rail simply because they are overlooked.
One thing to bear in mind when purchasing mannequins is the type that would be most appropriate to display your stock and would fit within the space you have available. You can acquire female and male adults and children, but you can also buy just a torso or a hand and arm. Here at Morplan we have been selling mannequins to the trade for years and always have a good selection in stock. We are more than happy to share our years of experience with you to help you make the perfect choice.
